Australian National Representative on the Commission for New Minerals, Nomenclature and Classification of the IMA, since 2007.

Vice-Chair of Local Organising Committee for IMA meeting in Melbourne, 2018.

Honorary Life Fellow, Mineralogical Society (UK and Ireland) since 2013.

Associate Editor of "Mineralogical Magazine" (UK) since 1998, of "Open geosciences" (formerly "Central European Journal of Geosciences") since 2008, and of "European Journal of Mineralogy" since 2013.

BA(Hons) (1984) and PhD (1988) in Geological Sciences from University of Cambridge, UK. PhD was on polytypism in sapphirine (Cambridge, UK, 1988): mainly a TEM/electron microprobe/powder XRD study.

Mineralogical/petrological/geochemical/crystallographic/solid-state physics and chemistry professional since then in UK (-1994) and Australia (1994-).

Mindat Manager since 2006.

Over 100 academic publications in international journals and scholarly book chapters. Full bibliography available at Google Scholar Citations .
