A former Cu-Ag-Au occurrence/mine located in T37N, R9E, G&SRM, 10.6 km (6.6 miles) E of White Mesa (coordinates of record), 11.5 miles due E of highway 89, and 10 miles east of the Echo Cliffs monocline.
Mineralization is a tabular ore body hosted in the Late Jurassic Navajo Sandstone. The ore body is tabular at 24.38 meters thick and 15.24 meters long. The gangue is mainly chalcedony, which occurs in anastomosing stringers. Controls for ore emplacement included NNW joints and ENE, WNW faults. Local rocks include rocks of the Glen Canyon Group.
Workings include surface and underground openings comprised of exploratory open pits and adits.
Analytical data results: 10 samples from the N part of the open cut contained: 0.001 ounce Au, 0.44 ounce Ag and 0.69% Cu. Also, 6 other samples from the southern part of the open cut contained: 0.001 ounce Au, 0.26 ounce Ag and 0.74% Cu, so the total of the 16 samples contained 0.71% Cu.
Reserves and resources data: In-situ (estimate year = 1955): Total resources: 7,374,000 metric tons of ore; Cu @ 2.15 weight percent (1955).
