From Massa Marittima drive towards the lake of Accesa, then, when arrived at the lake, turn left to "Fenice Capanne". After about 1.5 km, at a junction with unpaved roads, take the road to the left, which goes into the mining area. There are pits and dumps all over the hill.
Local alunitization processes in phyllites witnessed by the remains of the ancient "alum quarries of Cavoni" at Serrabottini.
Serrabottini is the area in which most medieval mines of the Massa Marittima Commune were concentrated.
