Note: The location of these prospects was misplaced in La Plata County in some earlier reports; the material collected in 1979 from Tucker's Tunnel prospect (Taggart and Foord, 1980) came from prospects in NE 1/4 NE 1/4 sec. 13, T. 37 N., R. 6 W., about 1/4 mi north of Runlett Peak (Eckel, Edwin B. (1997) Minerals of Colorado, updated & revised: 18).

"The prospect known as Tuckers Tunnel is the type locality for the mineral theisite, Cu5Zn5(As,Sb)2O8(OH)14.

It was found here in 1980 by Nicholas Theis and Michael Madsen during the course of a uranium investigation and named in Theis's honor (Theis et al., 1981; Williams, 1982).

Tuckers Tunnel is located in the Cave Basin mining district, Hinsdale County, Colorado, in the NE 1/4, NE 1/4 of Section 13, Township 37 North, Range 6 West.

It can be reached by taking the Middle Mountain road north about 12 miles from Vallecito Reservoir to Tuckerville and then heading south on a jeep road for 1 mile to the prospect.

At Tuckerville the Forest Service gate may be locked, making it necessary to walk for the last mile.

The road terminates at the prospect, half a mile north of Runlett Peak.

It is located on the Granite Peak 7.5-minute quadrangle map.

The area is only seasonably accessible, with Tuckerville at an elevation of 10,600 feet and Tuckers Tunnel at 11,000 feet." (Haynes & Hlava, 1998).
