Located about 3 kilometres south of the Great Northern Highway between Broome and Derby. The Melligo Sandstone is exposed as a narrow band of low outcrops trending south-west for 18 kilometres. The site was operated by Kimberley Quarry Pty Ltd, producing a large quantity of crushed sandstone for road and concrete use. It was trialled for several years for dimension stone, and was found difficult to cut into blocks due to its hardness, but has been used in some sculptures. It is quartz rich white to pale brown fine to medium grained silicified sandstone, with minor hematite staining, and rare tourmaline in opaline silica cement.
