The deposit was discovered in 1952 and was mined by open pit from 1955 to 1961 and by underground workings from 1957 to 1963). The mine ceased production in 1963. It is part of the Beaverlodge Uranium District.
The ore consisted of finely disseminated pitchblende and uranophane in syenite.
Located on the Crackingstone Peninsula on the north shore of Lake Athabasca, around 25 kilometres southwest of the community of Uranium City.
