Other/historical names associated with this locality:
Gnows Nest (Ba) Yalgoo Barite; Badja Station Barite Pegmatite
Located 22 kilometres south of Yalgoo.
Baryte patches in weathered quartz-feldspar muscovite pegmatite. The pit where baryte was mined is approximately one kilometre south-east of the Badja Station shearing shed. One source states fifty one tonnes of baryte was mined in 1967. Three trenches 100-150 metres long were dug across the pegmatite, north-east of a large pit.
The Western Australian Museum has a beryl specimen from the pegmatite.
The baryte is in the form of white crystalline masses associated with mica.
