A polymetallic mining district. The deposits are epithermal to leptothermal veins, mostly of simple mineralogy composed of mainly galena, sphalerite, and chalcopyrite in a gangue of quartz, pyrite, calcite, rhodochrosite, brecciated wall rock, and gouge.
The oldest rocks are a Jurassic sequence of 500 m or more of fine-grained thin to thick-bedded gray limestone with subordinate gray, green, red or black shale; yellow to brown mudstone and marl; a 40-60 m bed of green to reddish-green medium-grained quartzite overlain by shale & basalt. Beds are folded asymmetrically or overturned to the NE along axes trending NNW.
