10 kilometres south of Radio Hill. Mining took place for copper in an open pit by Whim Creek Consolidated NL for one year only in 1976 producing 6700 tonnes at 27.4% copper.
Fox Resources around 2005 mined copper from West Whundo, 200 metres away for chalcocite and chalcopyrite. Fox later discovered the Ayshia zinc-rich zone north-east of the Whundo deposit which was stated to contain a resource of 767 000 tonnes at 2.41% Zn and 0.43% Cu - (Fox report 20 April 2012).
Whundo is found in the upper part of the Nallana Formation, at its boundary with the Tozer Formation.
The deposit is 500 metres long, but folded around a moderately north plunging complex synformal structure. The resource is a series of north-west to north north-west plunging shoots, up to 20 metres thick, to at least 150 metres depth, on a hinge zone
Zn-Cu massive sulphide lenses. The primary mineralisation is dominated by fine to medium grained layered pyrite-sphalerite-chalcopyrite, with disseminated magnetite, and a little pyrrhotite. Also medium to coarse grained massive pyrrhotite-pyrite, with minor sphalerite and chalcopyrite. Galena is rare at the deposit.
Alteration is quartz-chlorite, enveloped by a zone of quartz-sericite-chlorite schist. Beneath the main ore zone is a schist alteration zone containing thin pyrite-chalcopyrite-sphalerite veining, layers, and stringers in a narrow stockwork zone.
There is prominent spotting of quartz-chlorite, and quartz-sericite-chlorite schist, with cordierite-andalusite-garnet porphyroblasts, attributed to the contact metamorphism of the alteration halo during emplacement of granitic rocks of the Chirrala Batholith.
