Center of the belt of lode deposits is at an elevation of 3,200 feet.
Exploration for the lode deposits began shortly after the discovery of placer deposits in 1905.
Several rich deposits found before 1916 but had negligible recorded production.
Short period of mining occurred in the early 1920's after discovery of rich deposits at the Little Annie, Red Top, and Alpha mines.
Spurt of mining accompanied development of Banjo Mine before WW2.
Final stage of mining occurred in the 1970's and 1980's after gold was freed on the markets and before litigation that terminated mining in the Kantishna Hills District in 1985.
