Identity HelpPurchased off ebay

I purchased this pendant of ebay (from memory an Indian seller) many years ago as aqua seraphinite. It is translucent with a pale peach matrix and lime green inclusions that have a shimmery quality when turned in the light. The lime green stone is very "blade" like, similar to kyanite in appearance. I have seen similar stones for sale described as aqua seraphinite with peach stilbite. It really does not look like any clinochlore I have ever seen. Any ideas on what this might actually be?

Tremolite?

29th Apr 2024 07:14 UTCAndrina van Acker

I did wonder about that. After doing a Google image search, and I saw a raw chunk of actinolite posted here, which looked similar in habit but not colour. Further investigation lead me to tremolite. But I couldn`t find any photos of tremolite that looked similar to this stone. I am mystified.

Tremolite is a member of the tremolite-actinolite amphibole group series and can come in a variety of colours so colour is one of the less reliable identification factors.  No need to be mystified.  In rock forming minerals its good even if you can only assign a group name to the mineral.

I'm probably wrong, but it reminds me a bit of Unakite.
Sorry, no, unakite consist of epidote and feldspar with much stronger colors. If you Google unakite you get plenty of representative pics.
Especially in the tapering end of this stone, you see the pale green crystalline mineral having a nearly fibrous internal structure. That would suggest a mineral like tremolite as already suggested, but it might be another pyroxene/amphibole/wollastonite too. Other experts would not doubt be able to come up with other possibilities.
The orange-pinkish mineral can very well be a feldspar, albite being my first choice.
If the TS can test the hardness on the backside of the stone it might in a way confirm the options I mentioned. Is the material softer than 6, it would be necessary to re-think the possibilities.

You are correct, I did not see the fibrous structure earlier.
